The Copacabana Palace faces the world-famous Copacabana Beach, yet is only minutes away from the business centre, and the Ipanema and Leblon districts of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

The hotel is located eight miles from the domestic airport, Santos Dumont, and 20 miles (about a 40-minute drive, depending on traffic conditions) from Rio’s international airport in Brazil.

The history of the Hotel Copacabana Palace reveals the importance of this landmark of Rio de Janeiro. The Hotel Copacabana Palace is considered among the greatest hotels in the world. This Hotel speaks for itself, a guest list of royalty, movie stars, music artists, sports players, politicians and business leaders from all over the world, people that have shaped the history of this past century and have stayed and given status to this hotel.

August 14, 1923: The opening of Copacabana Palace Hotel. It contributed to make Copacabana district an exotic and popular place for tourism and nightlife. It was one of the first hotels in Rio to be built on the seashore.

February 1924: Hotel started the tradition of holding its carnival ball The Copa ball, held on Carnival Saturday. Together with the Municipal ball, the Copa ball became the most sought after event in Brazil.
